BLACKSBURG, Va. — The common book festivities on September 14th included a meal celebrating Virginia Tech’s rich regional food resources. The Virginia Harvest Celebration Meal highlighted produce, meats, and desserts with local and regional components to create a truly stunning variety of eats. The meal was attended by authors Barbara Kingsolver and Steven Hopp, as well as a crowd of over 2300 consisting of students, faculty, staff, and community members.
Kingsolver was quite pleased with the menu and presentation. She expressed that the meal was “magnificent,” and “truly a work of art”. Dining Services upheld its high standards in executing the meal, drawing together a diverse pool of work from across departments in the university. It was, in all ways, a team effort.
